RECYCLING PERMITS CAN BE PURCHASED AT THE RECYCLING CENTER OR FROM THE TOWN CLERK AT DAY TOWN HALL.
Cost for recycling permit for 2024 is $10.00 Permit must be renewed yearly.
The Recycling Center is located at the corner of North Shore Road and Hadley Hill Road, Turning onto Hadley Hill Road from the North Shore Rd., the Recycling Center is on the left-side of the road on a slight rise.
Please note:
The Day Recycling Center does not accept any construction debris of any kind from contractors or homeowners.
The attendant on duty can not make any exceptions. Construction debris can be taken to:
Hiram Hollow located at 100 Washburn Rd., Gansevoort NY (518) 793-1098 for a fee.
LEAF RETENTION CENTER AT DAY TRANSFER STATION
The Town of Day will begin accepting leaves and grass clippings at our Recycling Center/Transfer Station from during the hours that the recycling is open. All leaves must be in biodegradable bags (no plastic) and taken into the designated compost area, must be a resident of Day and have a Recycling Center Permit. We cannot accept loose leaves or any brush. No commercial haulers/landscapers may use the Town of Day transfer station for disposal of any leaves, grass clippings or brush. Uncovered loads are subject to $50.00 fine/charge.
TIRE RECYCLING: Town of Day does not accept tires at this time.
Tires can be taken to Hiram Hollow located at 100 Washburn Road, Gansevoort, NY. Hours: Monday-Friday 7AM-3:30pm (may not be open on holidays). For more information contact them at 518-793-1098.
GARBAGE PICK-UP ~ WINTER SCHEDULE 2023 - 2024
Starting September 11, 2023 through May 29, 2024
Monday’s pick-up on both sides of lake (if there is a holiday on a Monday pick-up will be on Tuesday)
Curbside by 7:00 AM Garbage must be at roadside by 7 AM to be picked up
Memorial Day week pick-up will be on: Tuesday, May 28 , 2024 – North side and Wednesday, May 29, 2024 – South side of lake.
Summer schedule for 2024 will resume the following week with pick-up on: Monday’s – North side of Lake and on
Tuesday’s – South side of Lake
LOOSE GARBAGE WILL NOT BE PICKED UP! ALL GARBAGE MUST BE IN TIED CLOSED BAGS.
Garbage must be in "tied" plastic bags and in closed containers to prevent access and littering by animals.
Littered garbage will not be picked up by the town workers, it is the responsibility of the property owner to pick-up any of their loose garbage. Please secure your can lids as town workers are not responsible for loose garbage lids.
Garbage bags must be tied or they will not be picked-up.

RECYCLING INFORMATION
It is no longer required that you separate or rinse your recyclable items. Corrugated cardboard must be flattened.
Please recycle recyclables rather than put them in the garbage. It costs the town more, therefore the taxpayers pay more to process garbage than it does recyclables. Please recycle recyclables rather than put them in the garbage. If you bring your recycling items to the Town Recycling Center, there is the recycling truck inside the building that you can put your items into Attendant can direct you if you are unsure. The items you put into the truck do not need to be sorted. We just ask that you please break down cardboard.

RE-USE CENTER IS OPEN DURING REGULARLY SCHEDULED HOURS
An area has been set aside in the recycling building where residents may bring in and/or take out donated items for free. Please leave only items that are in good condition. Town takes NO RESPONSIBILITY for condition of items. NO CHILDREN'S ITEMS OR CLOTHING. Check with attendant on duty for any furniture drop off. No dirty/mold/stained upholstery is accepted in re-use center. No damp books or books with mold please. No small plug-in appliances (toasters, coffee makers, etc.) See the complete list at the Re-Use Center for what items are accepted or call the recycling center at 696-2406.
TV'S & COMPUTER MONITORS CAN BE TAKEN TO THE DAY RECYCLING CENTER AT NO CHARGE. RECYCLING PERMIT REQUIRED
