2024 Winterfest menu announced for Saratoga County senior citizens
Saratoga County and the Department of Aging and Youth Services is encouraging senior-citizens to participate at "Gather and Dine" locations to celebrate Winterfest.
Winterfest will be held throughout the month of January, with locations spread out across the county, according to a press release from the county. Food offered at the locations include a hot cocoa bar with fixings, belgian waffles with toppings and sausage cooked by Mazzone Hospitality.
Anyone 60 or older may participate. Reservations are required and must be made by noon, one day in advance. Lunch will be served at noon and to-go meals are not available.

HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (HEAP)

The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) is a federally funded program that assists low income households with the cost of heating their homes during winter months. The 2023-2024 Regular HEAP program opens on November 1, 2023. Emergency HEAP will open on January 2, 2024. The Saratoga County Department of Aging & Youth Services will be accepting applications for persons 60 year of age and older as well as those under 60 and are disabled. You may drop-off your application or send it by mail. Households that received a HEAP benefit las year will automatically be mailed an application for this year's program. The HEAP program provides a once a year benefit which is credited directly to your heating account. Regular benefit amounts are based upon the households gross monthly income and commodity used to heat your home. This years guidelines are as follows:
Household size: 1 = max. gross monthly income $3,035.00
2 = $3,970.00
3 = $4,904.00

The Saratoga County Board of Supervisors and the Office for the Aging are committed to assisting our older citizens to remain in their homes and to actively participate in family and community life. The Saratoga County Office for the Aging provides services for seniors throughout the County of Saratoga. These services create opportunities for active older people and meet the needs of those at risk of losing their independence. Older people have access to information and referral services, transportation, job and volunteer opportunities, senior center and day care center programs, congregate and home delivered meals as well as case management and in-home services.

Objective: To reduce the hunger and to provide low-income households with a supplement to their income to purchase food.
Services: Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP); referrals to other agencies; free nutrition education to qualified individuals.
Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00am – 4:00pm
Target Population: Any low-income individual/family living in Saratoga County.
Eligibility Criteria: Must meet income eligibility.

SARATOGA COUNTY SEEKS VOLUNTEERS TO DELIVER MEALS TO HOMEBOUND SENIORS
Immediate need for service to Ballston Spa, South Glens Falls, Wilton, Hadley, Schuylerville, Greenfield
BALLSTON SPA, NY -- The Saratoga County Department of Aging and Youth Services is seeking volunteers to deliver meals to homebound seniors in the following areas: Ballston Spa, South Glens Falls, Wilton, Hadley, Schuylerville, and Greenfield.
This important program helps many seniors, age 60 and older, remain independent in their homes by providing them with a nutritious ready-to-eat lunch each weekday.
Meals are picked up at 11AM and delivered until 1PM. Volunteers’ schedules are flexible to meet their availability.
To become a volunteer, individuals must submit paperwork, including references, to the Saratoga County Department of Aging and Youth Services. Volunteers must have a valid driver license and their own vehicle. Training and orientation are provided to all volunteers.
