The Town of Day is funded, in part, by taxes on real property – the land and buildings in the Town. The basis for property taxes is the “assessed value of the property”, a value which is consistent with the value the property would sell for if it were on the market. The Assessor is charged with computing that value consistent with the laws of New York State, and in a manner fair to all tax payers to insure each of us pays our fair share and no more. Property assessments are a matter of public record and may be reviewed on the Saratoga County website at http://www.saratogacountyny.gov/2019-final-roll/
From the Assessor's office: New year round residents who may be eligible for the STAR exemption need to call 518-457-2036 and not the Assessor's office to be enrolled. They may also apply online at http://www.tax.ny.gov/pit/property/exemption/seniorexempt.htm
All other exemptions are processed through the Assessor's office.
Click on Department for Real Property Tax Services. The Assessor is appointed by the Town Board with each term for a 6 year period.
