The Town Clerk has many varied responsibilities. The Town Clerk has the responsibility of taking the minutes for all Town Board meetings, filing reports with Saratoga County and New York State and filing monthly and yearly reports with the Town Board. The Town Clerk is responsible for selling recycling permits, dog licenses, marriage licenses, and providing information for FOIL requests, genealogical searches and vital records certification. The Clerk is required to file all Local Laws with the New York Sate Comptroller’s Office. Many inquiries for information are channeled through the Town Clerk’s office as well as the filing of many documents.
Town Clerk forms may be obtained from the Town of Day website under the Forms tab.
The Deputy Town Clerk is a Notary Public and can notarize documents.
Burn Permits are available at the Town Clerks office beginning on May 15, 2024. Annual brush burning ban is in effect from March 16 through May 14
Handicap permits (temporary or permanent) are available at the Town Clerks office. You will need to bring in a completed application form to the Town Clerk from DMV which is available at this link:

Hours as published January 1 through March 31. The Town Clerk is responsible for the collection of Town and County taxes as ordered by the Saratoga County Treasurer. Many reports must be generated throughout the tax collection period with a final accounting being made at the office of the Saratoga County Treasurer.
Taxes are collected by the Town Clerk at Day Town Hall from January 1 through March 31. Payment can be made in person at the Town Hall on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9:00AM to 1:00PM, or checks may be left in the drop box available 24/7. The drop box is located on the back side (parking lot side) of the Town Hall next to the back door. There is NO cash drop box available -- please do not put cash payments in the drop box.

Payment is due without penalty if received between 01/01/24 and 01/31/24
Note: If you do not receive your tax bill please contact the office at (518) 696-3789 Ext. 7
Failure to receive a bill does not exempt the taxpayer from payment of taxes or penalties.
After March 31, all taxes must be paid directly to the Saratoga County Treasurer
at 40 McMaster Street in Ballston Spa, NY, 518-884-4724.
Checks are made out to the Saratoga County Treasurer and sent directly to that office for all payments after March 31st.
SCHOOL TAX BILLS: School tax bills are mailed out in August/September by Saratoga County.
School taxes are not collected by the Town and County Tax Collector.

- The numerical amount and written amount must be the same
- The check must be signed. Unsigned checks will be returned
- To obtain a receipt, return the entire tax bill(s) with payment.
